Mr. Tamir is the founder and managing partner of Tamir Law Group. Upon graduation from law school in 2004, Mr. Tamir began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney at the Kings County District Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn, NY, where he tried many complex felony trials. He resigned from his position at the DA in 2009 to open the Tamir Law Group.

Since entering private practice, Mr. Tamir has expanded his practice to include commercial and civil ligation, family law, and business/corporate legal counseling. He also continues to specialize in complex criminal matters from DUIs to homicides.

 

Under Mr. Tamir’s supervision and guidance, Tamir Law Group has established itself as a successful boutique firm advocating on its clients’ behalf in both State and Federal Courts.

Alex Markus’ practice spans the spectrum of civil litigation with a focus on commercial litigation,

An experienced litigator, Alex Markus’ practice spans the spectrum of civil litigation with a focus on
commercial litigation, estate, matrimonial, and family law. Alex has spent nearly two decades
grappling with and helping his clients navigate, the rough waters where legal procedure and
emotional investment come together.

Alex’s passion for litigation stems from a competitive nature that continues to find its outlet in

Andrew Kurtz

Andrew concentrates his practice in various areas of civil litigation representing both
individuals and corporations in all stages of litigation, including arbitrations, administrative
hearings, appellate work, and trials.  Andrew has substantial experience in a number of
litigation areas including commercial, employment, insurance, construction, civil
rights, professional negligence, personal injury, and complex negligence matters.

 

Andrew has also provided strategic counsel and advice to clients in industries
including healthcare, insurance, and financial institutions, in connection with litigation and
regulatory compliance.  Andrew also has an extensive background in negotiating and drafting
various contractual agreements such as employment contracts, business formation
agreements, loan agreements, and real estate sales and lease agreements. His breadth of
experience allows him to contribute to a number of practice areas at the firm.

Avigail Merel

Abigail earned her degree in International Trade and Marketing at the Fashion
Institute of Technology where she graduated with honors. Abigail has worked as
a paralegal at Tamir Law Group for over ten years heading the personal injury
division. She is bilingual in Hebrew and functional in Spanish. She is also a mother
to five sweet children.

Rivkah Schwartz

Rivka is the firm’s office and practice support manager. In this role, Rivka oversees all
administrative tasks ensuring that the firm’s lawyers are free to focus on the real legal
issues at hand without distraction.
Prior to joining Tamir Law Group, Rivka served as an intern for the Honorable Judge
Rachel Freier in Queens Civil court. In this position, Rivka gained valuable expertise in
all aspects of civil law and case management, which made her a perfect fit for her
position at Tamir Law Group.
Rivka joined Tamir Law Group in May of 2021 and serves a vital role in the firm’s day to
day operations.

Alex Sandler

Alex is a legal intern and litigation paralegal. Alex supports attorneys in the civil and commercial
litigation division of the firm through all stages of litigation, researching, drafting legal
memoranda and court documents, managing case files, and performing administrative tasks.

 

Alex is currently a 3L at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. At Cardozo, Alex is the
Symposium Editor of the Cardozo Journal of Conflict Resolution, Vol. 23, where her Student
The note will be published this year in Issue 2 of the journal. In addition, Alex is serving as the Vice
The present of the Cardozo Startup Society. Alex is primarily interested in corporate law, business
transactions, and IP, and has focused her studies at Cardozo according to those interests.

 

Prior to joining the firm as a legal intern, Alex externed at Alt Legal, an intellectual property
management software company. As an extern at Alt Legal, Alex performed legal research on
trademark case law, wrote articles for the company’s blog on various trademark topics, and
developed an extensive trademark prosecution E-book to provide practical guidance for
trademark attorneys. After completing her externship with Alt Legal, Alex was hired by the firm
as a summer intern in May of 2021. Her summer internship has been extended to a part-time
school year internship.
